Somebody asked us a while ago, 'Who is Love Ballyclare?'.
We took a moment to think about it and then gave our reply.
We said, "We see the lights on in the Paper Shop from early morning, every morning; Howlers open for amazing breakfasts, lunches and dinners 7 days a week; Ernie Hall and son open like clockwork, brushing their doorstep most mornings; Mark at Pots working tirelessly; Bert McCormick eternally youthful; Billy in Harveys always busy; Lorraine in Joli helping us all look lovely; Adrian with the boot open; Arlene, always chatty and a heart of gold; Ross in his Joint; Jamie and Stacey up at Dunamoy; the fishing boys up at Tildarg; the Five Corners; Need 4 Speed; Breckenhill; the golf clubs; our sports clubs; our community groups; our schools; our churches, our beauticians; our taxi companies; our hairdressers, coffee shops and cafes; and we think what can we do to help make things better in whatever way we can?"
All these people work so hard, long hours and often with no thanks and little reward...the least we can do is show them that we support them and what they do for our town. Love Ballyclare works best when it's not connected to any organisation or council; when it's not someone but everyone.
If it wasn't for people like Ernie, Mark, Bert, Arlene, Lorraine, Billy, Jennifer, Jamie, Ross and many, many others, there would be no Ballyclare; so to them we are eternally grateful and just hope what we do can help everyone appreciate where we live and what we have, that little bit more.
